The mission of Yeomans Wood and Timber is to procure quality forest products in an environmentally safe and cost-effective manner, while adhering to all Sustainable Forestry Initiatives and Best Management Practices. To manage all timberlands we encounter with expert care. To site prep and reforest by methods that are aesthetically pleasing and that will provide the best return for the landowner. To provide career jobs that will be fulfilling for our associates, and a credit to the image of the forest industry. To provide profit in order to strengthen our ability to serve ourselves, our vendors, our contractors and our customers.
Company Background
In 1979, Yeomans Wood and Timber was created to provide service to forest landowners by buying timber at competitive prices, while never sacrificing the quality of the harvesting operation, and to produce forest products efficiently and safely.
In the early years, Yeomans Wood and Timber produced around 250,000 tons of wood anually. That wood was produced primarily within 50-60 miles of Swainsboro, Ga. with two field men. In the mid-eighties, the company was up to around 400,000 tons per year with three wood buyers covering 8 to 10 counties.
By 1990, our operation was producing over 700,000 tons of wood annually to wood fiber and building products facilities. Since then, Yeomans has grown to produce over 1,250,000 tons each year employing, nine wood buyers that cover all of middle and southeast Georgia and coastal South Carolina. We have also implemented a reforestaion group, so that we may offer our clients a complete turn-key job.
Overall, our company is characterized as a producer of pine and hardwood timber to various markets across the southeast, a management firm for timberland and a purchaser of land and timber.
For years we have successfully managed timberland and wood assets from seedlings to finished product. Always building on our successes, we have developed efficient and environmentally sound methods for sustaining both profitability as well as growth for the land.
